Beirut - A Lebanese lawyer is urging authorities to rename the country's scenic mountain village of Sharon to spare it the taint of association with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, whom many Arabs consider a war criminal.

Mr May Khansa said in a letter to Interior Minister Elias al-Murr: "God has bestowed the village of Sharon with beauty, purity, and pleasantness; it should not bear this name."
