A man sitting on electric power cables over a rail line brought DART services in Dublin to a halt this morning.

A spokeswoman for Iarnród Éireann confirmed the emergency services, including fire officers and gardai, had been called to the scene to deal with the incident.

The electricity to the DART power cables was cut and three trains were stranded on that stretch of line for about an hour.

The spokeswoman said the man is believed to have climbed on to the power lines at around 9.45 a.m. this morning. It is understood the man was removed from the cables at around 11.15 a.m.

All DART services are now returning to normal.
