A 28-year-old Cork man was remanded in custody yesterday after being charged at a special sitting of Cork District Court with raping a woman.

The alleged rape occurred at a house at Farranree, on the north side of the city, and was reported to gardai at about 5 a.m. on Saturday. The man was arrested and questioned in Mayfield Garda station where he was held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. Judge Terence Finn remanded him in custody overnight. He is to appear before Cork District Court this morning.
