The Irish pair of Padraig Harrington and Paul McGinley have birdied the opening two holes of the World Cup at the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island.

The duo, who won the tournament in 1997 in its earlier incarnation as World Cup of Golf, lie in an early second place position, a shot behind the Paraguay pair of Carlos Franco & Marco Ruiz, who are on three-under.

The English team of Paul Casey and Justin Rose parred the first hole.
