Four US government contractors from the Philippines were killed in a rocket attack on the Green Zone compound in Baghdad yesterday.

A number of rockets and mortar bombs have been fired at the Green Zone over the past few days.

It was announced yesterday that at least 85 Iraqis were killed or found dead across the country. The dead included eight people who died when a roadside bomb destroyed their minibus about 20 miles south of Baghdad.

Two US soldiers were killed yesterday and two others were wounded when a bomb blew up their vehicle in southern Baghdad. Another soldier died in a blast in western Baghdad.

At least 3,354 members of the US military have died since the Iraq war started in March 2003. Last month, at least 104 US service members died - the highest monthly figure since December.
